About Us

Vector Contour was formed in 2002 to investigate better ways of applying edgebanding to curved surfaces in manufacturing environments.

Duncan Such, our founder, had deep woodworking experience having run large woodworking machinery and component distribution businesses for decades prior.

The issues we set-out to solve were that semi-automatic edgebanding machines do not produce an acceptable manufactured component product consistently; and the large CNC hybrid manufacturing systems were not viable in a wide range of woodworking environments, due to significant expense and complexity of ongoing operation.

The first years were about protype development and testing. The core principals of the patented technology revolved around utilising AI algorithms to automatically analyse the shape of panels to determine an optimal edgebanding application process. Then the focus was integrating all elements of the manufacturing process to produce consistently high quality products.

Since 2008, the Revolution Series of machines have been manufactured in New Zealand and marketed globally. Vector Contour now has offices and representation in New Zealand, Australia, USA, UK, Ireland, Germany, Czech Republic, Greece, Norway, Turkey, Japan, Korea and Brazil.

We provide people on the ground as required globally. We have also pioneered video conferencing processes over the last two years where training sessions, installation and commissioning events and sales presentations are completed with high levels of customer satisfaction, delivering the right outcomes in a very effective and timely manner.

Our reputation, built over 20 years, reflects an uncompromising focus on high quality workmanship. We approach our work with enthusiasm, dedication and integrity. We are always looking for new ways to innovate and improve; and we pass those benefits onto our customers.

We have long standing and enduring client partnerships that are built on mutual respect, open communication and service excellence.

What our customers say

We design and build innovative school furniture. The
Vector team have a great approach, smart collaboration that makes a difference.

Love the machine, does a great job. Has increased our throughput dramatically and opened up new furniture markets for us throughout Australia.

With the Vector we have exceeded our pull tests, it gives off great pressure into the board and great adhesion.

 Fleetwood Inc

The other options were more expensive or super low tech. There is no competition for the Revolution 180 in this space. Innovative and easy to use.

We are very pleased with not only the durability of the machine, but also the quality we get off it at Airstream

The Vector Revolution 180 has raised our finish quality enormously at Linssen Yachts, allowing us to use 1mm wood veneer where previously we used 2mm due to sanding issues, thus improving appearance with reduced effort.

There are no comparisons. We have more capacity with a lower cost of set-up and training. It suits the cell based structure we have for producing our educational furniture.

The Vector Contour team have been great to work with over the years, very responsive. They have a good reputation and care about their customers.

The Vector Contour Revolution 180 has greatly improved our quality, consistency and productivity with contours. In fact it has become so central to our business and opened new doors that we couldn’t manage now without it.
